Personal info: 206 cm / 6,9 ft The professional career of Milan Mačvan is rising to the top: at just 23 years – he was born on November 16th, 1989 in Vukovar (Croatia) – the Serbian power forward has already showed to be ready to be one of the most important and consistant European players on his spot, as well as he was also drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers of the NBA in 2011 (second round, n. 54 overall). After starting his career on the breeding ground of FMP Zeleznik, he made the most important steps with the Youth National Team of Serbia: at the age of 14, he played at the 2005 U-16 European Championships in Spain for Serbia and Montenegro, impressing as the teams’ best scorer with 18.8 points and 9.8 rebounds per game (even if in a 10th place), then at the 2006 U-18 European Championships in Greece he contributed to the 5th placed of the team with 9.9 points and 4.9 rebounds on average. The true explosion of his potential happened in 2007, when Milan Mačvan established himself as the leader of the Serbian National Team. He earned two gold medals that year, at the U-19 World Championships in Serbia (15.4 point and 4.9 rebounds on average) and at the U-18 European Championships in Spain (19.3 and 10.3). Then, in 2008 he won another gold medal at the U-20 European Championships in Latvia, with 16.9 point, 6.6 rebounds and 3.8 assists. The next step in his career was the Senior National Team of Serbia. He was a member of the adventure at the 2009 European Championships in Poland, making his debut (2.8 points and 1.9 rebounds) and coming back with a silver medal. Finally, he assumed a bigger role at the 2010 World Championships in Turkey (5.7 points and 1.4 rebounds, 4th place) and everyone is ready to predict that Milan Mačvan will be a protagonist of future competitions for Serbia. The spotlights of the Youth National Team switched on very early for him, but Milan Mačvan continued to grow step by step with FMP Zeleznik. From 2003 to 2007, he gained experience playing in Cadet and Junior Teams, but also playing in the starting five of FMP II in B League and making it to the first team of FMP. Then, in November 2007 he made his move to KK Hemofarm Vrsac, where he was immediately given the opportunity to play an important role. After a positive first season, at 19 he was already one of the leaders of the team, averaging 11.3 points and 4.2 rebounds in the Eurocup and displaying his talent all over Europe. During his third year with Hemofarm he averaged 14.6 points and 5.8 rebounds in the Adriatic League, also playing in the Eurocup. In 2009 he was selected to be a part of the Nike Hoop Summit and he led the International Team to victory over the US Team, earning the title of MVP of the game with 23 points, 14 rebounds and 6 assists. He was also named Eurocup Rising Star. Then, during the summer Milan played the EuroBasket 2011 in Lithuania with the Serbian National Team, used by coach Ivkovic as tactical key and answering very good with 7.4 points of average in 16.9 minutes, shooting with 61.4% from 2pt, and 85.7% from the line, and adding 4.1 rebounds, with the highlight games against Italy (14 points and 8 rebounds) and against Germany (when he forced Nowitzki to score only 6 points shooting with 3/9 in the direct duel). Once more, he showed that he owns the future, but back to Maccabi Tel Aviv, despite of scoring 16 points and 6 rebounds in the final of Pro Stars Tournament in France, he did not find space anymore in the player rotation of coach Blatt, due to the new rules of Israel League limiting to four the maximum of foreigner players in team for each game: he just played the first two games of Adriatic League scoring 7.0 points in 13 minutes of average, but he really would need more space to continue to develop his potential in a very important season. So, Zoran Savic managed with Maccabi Tel Aviv and Partizan Belgrade, where Milan went on loan for the 2011/2012 season on October 19th, 2011, feeling happy to come back home and join the most important club of Serbia. And, finally, ready to play at his best: in Euroleague he scored 15.3 points more 8.2 rebounds (best absolute rebounder!), 2.2 assists and 19.8 of personal evalutation in 31 minutes per game (shooting with great percentages: 63.9% from 2pt, 37.5% from 3pt and 83.3% from ft), and he played a very consistant season also in the Adriatic League – 12.5 points, 7.7 rebounds, 1.1 assist and 16.6 of evaluation – reaching the Final Four of Tel Aviv, finally he won both the Serbian National Cup and the Serbian Superleague, adding two trophies to his personal gallery. In the summer 2012 Milan played the Eurobasket Qualifiers with Serbia, as one of the leader of a very young group, and got the important spot for Eurobasket 2013 - 7.0 points per game, 4.8 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 19.6 minutes of average for him - then it came the moment to start the new season and together with Zoran Savic they decided to exit the contract with Maccabi and sign for Galatasaray Medical Park in Istanbul, starting a new chapter of his career. The double challenge for the 2012/2013 season will be competing at the top level both in the Turkish Basketball League and in the Eurocup, but most of all Milan Mačvan wants to continue to develop his potential at the best.
