At the end of an amazing, unbelievable, historical 2011/2012 season, Sito Alonsocollected one more win. And this is a very important, meaningful and prestigious win: the "Antonio Díaz Miguel Trophy" as the Best Coach of the Year! After leading Lagun Aro GBC from the bottom of the ranking to the 4th place - with a memorable 14-2 streak - and reaching the qualification both to the ACB Copa del Rey and to the ACB Playoffs (as 5th placed, with 19-15) for the first time ever in the club history, Alonso was awarded by his colleagues of AEEB, the Association of Basketball Coaches of Spain, that voted him at the first place in front of Real Madrid's Pablo Laso and Regal FC Barcelona's Xavi Pascual (who have already won the trophy for three times).
