ALONSO's Lagun Aro, great but ko
The first thing to say is that Sito Alonso's Lagun Aro GBC never gives up, as they showed both in the first game of ACB (68-71 at home against Obradoiro, after recovering from -16) and in this second game on the court of Blancos de Rueda Valladolid, in which the recovery started by -15. Unfortunately, for the second time the team arrived so near to the win but didn't get it. In Valladolid more than ever, failing the chance to win at the end of the regular time and then the chance to tie at the end of the overtime. But everyone saw that the team is on the right way (do you remember also the -2 of the pre-season against Caja Laboral?) and just need to make the finan step to win. It was a game full of emotions and with a thrilling final: after dominating the first period (25-10), Blancos de Rueda - with Dalibor Bagaric on the bench, without playing - lost only three points in the second partial finding the way to control Lagun Aro's reaction and keeping a double figures advantage (+12, 42-30) but in the third period Sito Alonso's players came back on the court with extra-motivation and started a strong recovery, dominating the partial for 13-24 and arriving at just one point to tie the game on the third buzzer, 55-54. Then, Lagun Aro took the lead twice in the first two minutes of the fourth period (55-57), but Blancos de Rueda came back ahead and reached 6 points of advantage on 67-61 with 4' to go. Once more coach Alonso pushed his players, and they answered in the best way, recovering the gap and fighting on each ball: Salgado wrote the +1 of 72-73 with two free throws entering in the last minute, but Valladolid immediately took the lead back, keeping in until the final seconds, when Baron tied the score with one free throw but then missed the second one to win and the game went to overtime, in which once again Lagun Aro had the chance to win, then to tie the score on the final buzzer from the arc, but Sergi Vidal missed it and Blancos de Rueda won 89-86.
