Work in progress around Europe. The athletes represented by INVICTUS Sports Group are preparing at their best to make the 2011/2012 season successful, each one with his own club. Herewith, we want to start with the three Head Coaches represented by Zoran Savic's agency, all of them coaching in Spain (two in ACB and one in LEB Oro). So, let's "give a look" introducing the 2011/2012 season, before following them step by step, game by game all along their path.
INVICTUS Sports Group, Head Coaches:
XAVI PASCUAL, FC Barcelona (Spain) - Preparing to play once more the difficult role of favourite in all the competitions, the ACB Champions were very aggressive on the summer market: after signing a new contract last January with the head coach Xavi Pascual until the end of the 2012/2013 season, they decided to make some importants changements in the team roster. Together with the players already under contract - Navarro, Sada, Ingles and Perovic - Barça extended the contract to Ndong, Lorbek, Vazquez and Mickeal, then signed the new players CJ Wallace, Marcelinho Huertas, Xavi Rabaseda and Chuck Eidson. During the "pre-temporada", coach Pascual had to work without the most of his players because of the competition with the National teams, inviting some other players to practice with the team for the last weeks. After winning all the 4 friendly games played until now (76-85 @ Assignia Manresa, 85-70 vs Stanford University, 81-64 vs BC Khimki, 55-90 @ CB Tarragona), now Regal FC Barcelona is preparing to the first official events: on September 25th in Manresa, the Semifinals of Catalan League vs Lleida Basquetbol, and on September 30th in Bilbao, the Semifinals of the ACB Supercopa vs Real Madrid.
SITO ALONSO, Lagun Aro GBC (Spain) - After signing a two years contract with Lagun Aro GBC last July, he immediately started working on the new project to create. The basis of confirmed players is composed by Lasa, Panko, Doblas, Baron and Salgado and guarantees experience and confidence. And they will have to role to lead the new players Lorant, Papamakarios, Neto, Korolev and Vidal, helping them to adjust and integrate to the team becoming a solid group. Chemistry and hard work, as always in Sito's philosophy. The first weeks of work showed very positive indications, confirmed by the pre-season games played until now, with a current balance of 3 wins (81-85 @ Saragoza, 77-79 @ Knet & Eniac, 58-70 @ Pau Orthez) and 1 loss (71-68 @ Grupo Iruna Navarra). Coming next: friendly games on September 21st vs Blancos de Rueda Valladolid and on September 24th vs Obradoiro CAB, then on September 27th in Vitoria, the Semifinals of Euskal Cup vs Caja Laboral Vitoria.
ZAN TABAK, CB Sant Josep Girona (Spain) - At the first time as head coach after five years as assistant coach (in ACB, with Real Madrid and Cajasol Sevilla), Zan has to work on his new team, but also to know a different Championship as the LEB Oro. The team is composed by the confirmed players Carlos Canals Sanchez, Ignacio Ordin Barrabes, Eric Jimenez Coll, Sergi Pino Capdevila and the veteran Darryl Middleton, with the addition of the new players Xavi Guirao, Marc Fernández, Rolands Freimanis, Arnas Labuckas and the Americans Thomas Coleman and Willie Reed. CB Sant Josep Girona has already started its official games: on last September 18th, it lost the Catalan League Final LEB for 70-65 against Lleida Basquetbol, but most of all on the coming Friday, September 23rd, there will be the first game of LEB Oro, at h. 21.00 on the home court of Fontajau vs Caceres.
